Club Tour

The Petone Rugby Football Club has embarked on many Tours through the years.

At one particular POFF's dinner, Mike Whatman had arranged for three Petone teams to have a reunion of-sorts. John Dobson spoke about the trials associated with being the manager of the North American Tour, Alan Hewson spoke about being the new boy on the block during the South African Expedition and Ross Plunkett along with Allan "Wango" Martin kept the crowd entertained with tall stories and a factual account of how the team earned the right to play against All Japan.

The final word of the night went to Don McIntosh as he spoke about one of their Tours - an overnight bus trip to Eketahuna - my how things have changed.

Over time we will endeavour to document the Tours the club has embarked on, give some history, game detail, results and some colourful stories. Outside of the Tours mentioned above, there have been trips to Australia, Singapore, United Kingdom and Westport not to mention the Junior Section visiting Hawkes Bay and playing tournaments in Taupo and other places.

We have also been fortunate enough to be chosen to play against and host touring teams from France, United Kingdom, North America, Japan, Australia and the Junior Section has hosted many teams from Japan, Australia, Korea and from throughout New Zealand.
