New Zealand Maori
Kia Kaha, Kia Maia
The Petone Rugby Football Club has strong ties to the many Maori families who have resided in the area since before settlement began.
Honiona Te Puni was the leading figure in the area - a very influential Chief of Te Atiawa, a pacifist and largely responsible for the peaceful settlement and integration of Maori and the early settlers.
Petone has produced 17 Maori All Blacks - our Historian is working on biographies for each of the Petone Maori All Blacks and they will be available soon.
