PETONEMAN 2010 Register Now!!

Once again the call goes out “ARE YOU READY”. That’s right, PETONEMAN2010 is less than six weeks away and with the festive season over there is no better time than now to give ourselves a goal to aim for. From the serious athlete to the casual walker there is now an event for us all.

Over many years the success of the Petone Rugby Club was built on the “Legendary” Korokoro runs and this is the basis of “PETONEMAN”.

The first part of this endurance duathlon is a run from the Clubrooms, over the footbridge at Petone Railway Station and up Korokoro Rd, then turn into Singers Rd and go up to the Scout Hall and enter the domain running down the steps then out over the footbridge, back to the Clubrooms in Udy St to begin the first bike leg. Then it’s a 15km bike ride round to the Muritai Park entrance to Butterfly Creek where the 2nd run stage takes you over the track to emerge at the Kowhai St exit then a short run back to your bike. The last leg is the bike ride back to the clubrooms .

February the 13th is PETONEMAN, so please keep that day free for what promises to be a great day.

As always, PETONEMAN will be a challenge for our serious members in the Men’s open the “Puku Pacers” in the slower category and of course we have a womens section, while a new section this year will allow the ‘College’ students to compete against each other.

The extremely popular 'PETONEKID' will see our juniors get out there for their Run, Swim, Bike Triathlon.

The other part of the day will be the 'PETONEMANWALK', a 5km walk around Petone for those of us not up for the Korokoro hills.

Teams can be entered but all competitors must be fully registered.

Prizegivng will be held at 5.30pm for the ‘PETONEKID’ and 6.00pm for the ‘PETONEMAN’, with spot prizes, while a DJ will play his sounds into the evening.

This event "Kick Starts" a very big year for the Petone Rugby Club.

The Registrations are rolling in with good numbers in all categories.

The College section is drawing some interesting competitors while in the Men’s open event Steve ‘Runty’ Robertson has thrown out an early challenge with his registration.

The Petoneman walk has so far drawn the most registrations.

Please take the time NOW to register early by going to the PETONEMAN 2010 page in the left hand collum, and remember payment is not required until the day of the event.
