Old Farts Fraternity
An interesting club adjunct is the organization known as the “PETONE OLD FART’S FRATERNITY” (P.O.F.F.)
The object of P.O.F.F. are to engender interest from older members who have over time for various reasons divorced themselves from participation in present day club activities, numerous gatherings have been held in the interim every four months at dinners including interesting guest speakers and reunions of teams of note from earlier years.
Without doubt P.O.F.F. functions have been eagerly anticipated.
Very well attended and highlighted by levity and goodwill and it is fair to say, become an important activity on the club calendar.
The first gathering saw twelve former players from the 1950’s in attendance and the guest speaker was appropriately the former All Black Mick Brennan who opposed Petone when the great games with Victoria University were never-to-be-forgotten “BATTLES”.
Another occasion was memorable in the presence of the N.Z Rugby Chairman Mr. Jock Hobbs and the attendance of 90year old ‘Pete’ Carter our most senior Wellington Representative and coach of the successful senior side’s of the 1950’s.
Membership of P.O.F.F. is not age restricted and is not complicated by a committee; it is free of financial requirements or undertakings and does not keep records.
It is clear the original aims of P.O.F.F. are more than adequately met.

Hon Secretary P.O.F.F.
